Janakpur, Sept. 15 -- Police in Dhanusha have arrested two individuals accused of vandalism, arson and looting during unrest at the Madhesh Province Public Service Commission office in Janakpur on September 9.

The suspects had allegedly stolen a self-loading rifle (SLR) belonging to a police officer on duty.

The statement issued by the District Police Office, Janakpur, said that 37-year-old Manish Kumar Adhikari and 21-year-old Santosh Kumar Yadav, both residents of Janakpur-9-were taken into custody after a search operation based on CCTV footage analysis.

Police recovered the looted SLR rifle along with 50 rounds of ammunition from their possession.
