Nepal, June 17 -- Earth is heating up, and there is no doubt about it. The World Meteorological Organisation reported 2024 as the warmest year ever recorded, with global temperatures reaching 1.55 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The organisation confirmed that this is the first time we have crossed the 1.5 degrees Celsius threshold in a single calendar year. The last 10 years have showcased an ongoing, alarming trend, and its impact is everywhere.

According to a 2017 study by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Nepal is warming nearly twice as fast as the global average, with average temperatures rising by approximately 0.056 degrees Celsius per year. The heat will escalate if no actions are taken today.
