Kathmandu, Aug. 19 -- The Supreme Court has issued an interim order banning the extraction and storage of women's and teenage girls' eggs, directing the government to ensure strict monitoring and regulation of fertility clinics.

The order came from a single bench led by Justice Tek Prasad Dhungana on Tuesday in response to a writ petition filed by advocates Nirav Gyawali, Dhruva Bhandari and Ankita Tripathi on August 17.

The petitioners argued that egg extraction and storage should only be permitted under a clear legal framework, citing concerns of abuse and exploitation.

The case gained urgency after reports surfaced that Hope Fertility and Diagnostic Pvt Ltd, based in Babarmahal, had been illegally extracting eggs from teenage girls ...
