Kathmandu, Sept. 14 -- Former education minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Sumana Shrestha has announced her resignation from the party, saying she can no longer tolerate the leadership's wrong doings.

In a message posted on social media on Sunday, Shrestha criticised what she described as a culture of impunity within the party-leaders who never admit mistakes, repeat errors, and then expect the whole membership to bear the burden. She also accused the party of conducting media trials against internal critics.

"Since the party began placing itself above the country and its leaders above the party, I have been a vocal critic," Shrestha wrote. "If open attacks continue, I will no longer stand in the way."
