Kathmandu, April 20 -- Police issued warnings through loudspeakers on Sunday after Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) protesters attempted to breach the restricted zone during their rally from Maitighar to New Baneshwar.
The rally moved towards New Baneshwar despite prior government warnings. Police began asking the demonstrators not to breach the restricted zone after they tried to push through security barricades near the prohibited area.
On Saturday, the Home Ministry had warned the RPP against violating restrictions, saying that any breach would lead to legal action. The ministry said it was alarmed by public statements from RPP leaders announcing their intent to defy the ban.
