Kathmandu, Dec. 19 -- year-old rape survivor attempted suicide on the premises of the High Court Patan in Lalitpur on Friday.

Inspector Ranjit Pradhan of Metropolitan Police Circle Lagankhel said officers rushed to the court after staff reported that a woman was writhing in distress inside the compound. Police then rescued her and took her to Patan Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

The woman reportedly consumed pesticide shortly after the court ordered the release of the rape accused. The court had allowed his release on bail in the ongoing rape case.
