Kathmandu, Jan. 1 -- Qatar has granted Amiri Amnesty to 13 Nepali citizens serving prison sentences in the Gulf nation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal said on Thursday.
The pardon was announced by the Qatari Amir on the occasion of Qatar's National Day and International Human Rights Day.
"The ministry highly values the kind gesture of pardon granted on humanitarian ground as the manifestation of deepening friendship and cordiality in the existing bilateral relations between Nepal and the State of Qatar," the foreign ministry said in its press release issued on Thursday.
The ministry, however, has not disclosed the names and other details of the Nepali inmates pardoned by Qatar.
