Nepal, Feb. 19 -- In a happy coincidence in Nepal's history, Kantipur Publications, the custodian of democracy, came into being on Falgun 7-the day democracy itself was born. Today, Kantipur, which has not only witnessed Nepal's political transformations but has also been their integral part, enters its 34th year.

Whenever attempts have been made to silence the voice of the people, Kantipur Publications has stood firm as an advocate for democracy. During the Maoist armed conflict, it defended human rights; during the royal regime, it stood for multiparty democracy; after the peace agreement, it supported constitution-making; and after the promulgation of the constitution, it has consistently stood for good governance.
