Kathmadnu, Feb. 23 -- The curfew imposed in Birgunj Metropolitan City, Parsa district, following a clash between two youth groups, has been lifted from Monday evening.

Earlier, the District Administration Office had enforced an indefinite curfew from 9:45 am on Monday, citing a deteriorating security situation. However, Bhola Dahal, chief district officer, said the curfew order has been withdrawn after 4:30 pm, while the prohibitory order continues.

The prohibitory order, enforced at 6 pm on Monday, remains in effect until 8 am on Tuesday.

The administration had called an all-party meeting on Monday afternoon to assess the security situation and discuss measures to restore law and order in Birgunj.
