Kathmandu, May 8 -- The newly formed alliance of pro-monarchy forces has declared an indefinite nationwide protest from May 29, calling for the revival of the monarchy through civil disobedience and mass mobilisation.

The announcement was made at a press meet on Thursday in Kathmandu by Nabaraj Subedi, coordinator of the joint people's movement committee.

Subedi, who also leads the alliance, stated the protests aim to generate "powerful public pressure" for restoring the monarchy, which he claims is essential to ending 'authoritarianism'.

He underscored that the movement would remain non-violent, using methods such as satyagraha and civil disobedience.
