Udayapur, May 10 -- Inspector of Police Birodh Khatriwada, aged 30, died in a van accident at Futani Chowk in Duhabi Municipality-3, Sunsari, on Saturday morning.

According to Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire of the Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Itahari, the accident took place at 11:50 am when the pickup van, travelling from Udayapur to Duhabi with household goods, went out of control and crashed into an iron railing at the roadside.

Khatiwada, who was seriously injured in the accident, was rushed to Birat Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead during treatment at 12:21 pm. He was stationed at the Udayapur District Police Office and had been assigned from there from Kathmandu.
