Kathmandu, Feb. 17 -- Police have launched an investigation after a video showing a car driver assaulting a pedestrian in Kathmandu went viral on social media.

The footage shows the driver punching the pedestrian on the street, reportedly after an argument. The incident drew widespread concern and criticism , prompting police to step in.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range, said an investigation has begun. "Concerns have been raised from various quarters. Police have started looking into what exactly happened," he said.
