Saptari, Aug. 6 -- Tensions broke out in Saptari district on Wednesday as police fired three rounds of tear gas shells to disperse demonstrators protesting the death of a local man in a police shooting the night before.

The unrest erupted in Kamalpur, ward 2 of Rajgadh Rural Municipality, where protesters had gathered in front of the District Police Office and District Administration Office, setting tyres alight and calling for justice.

The protest followed the death of Lalu Yadav, a 36-year-old man from the area, who was shot by police during a clash that broke out on Tuesday night.
