Kathmandu, Nov. 8 -- Police on Thursday evening arrested renowned businessman Roop Jyoti from Tribhuvan International Airport for his alleged involvement in a fraud case.

A team of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range arrested Jyoti, who was also the former assistant minister for finance, after he deboarded a Silk Air Flight coming from Singapore at around 8:30 in the evening, according to police.

"Jyoti has now been presented in Kathmandu District Court. We will seek permission from the court to keep him in custody for further investigation.
