Kathmandu, Nov. 14 -- Prime Minister Sushila Karki has asked the Election Commission to extend the voter registration deadline.
According to her secretariat, she talked to acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari on Friday and urged him to extend the deadline.
The commission had earlier set the voter registration deadline until November 16 for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
The prime minister's secretariat said Bhandari told her that the deadline could be extended by up to five days. Prime Minister Karki made the request, citing the high turnout at registration centres.
