Rajbiraj, Aug. 6 -- One person was killed after police opened fire during a clash with locals in ward 2 of Rajgadh Rural Municipality, Saptari, on Tuesday night.

According to police, the clash broke out after residents confronted a team deployed to prevent smuggling. Some individuals allegedly pelted stones at the officers, prompting police to fire several rounds in an attempt to bring the situation under control.

Lalu Yadav, a 36-year-old resident, was shot in the thigh during the incident. He was rushed to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj, where he died while undergoing treatment.
