Kathmandu, Jan. 5 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) surged by 28.73 points on Sunday, marking a 1.10 percent rise compared with the previous trading session. With the gain, the benchmark index closed at 2,639.37 points.

According to market data, share prices of 214 listed companies increased, 37 remained unchanged, while only 8 recorded a decline-reflecting broad-based positive sentiment across the trading floor.

A total of 84,990 transactions were executed, during which 12,459,951 shares changed hands. The day's turnover stood at Rs6.47 billion, significantly higher than recent sessions and indicating heightened investor activity.
