Kathmandu, May 27 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index registered a modest gain of 0.85 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,675.62. This marginal rise marks a 0.03 percent increase compared to Monday's session, when the index had declined by 5.21 points.
Despite the slight improvement in the index, overall market turnover declined significantly. A total of 14.3 million shares were traded through 59,633 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs6.52 billion. This is down from Rs7.56 billion recorded on Monday.
Among the 85 companies whose share prices increased, the market saw 161 decline, indicating cautious investor sentiment.
