Kathmandu, Oct. 28 -- The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index surged by 62.29 points on Monday, closing at 2,571.34-an increase of 2.48 percent compared to the previous trading day.

Out of the companies traded, share prices of 236 increased, while 12 declined and two remained unchanged.

A total of 9.24 million shares were traded 47,094 times, generating a turnover of Rs4.57 billion.

Among the 13 trading sub-indices, all except the trading group posted gains.

The trading sub-index dropped by 28.57 points, while the life insurance and non-life insurance sub-indices rose sharply by 433.62 points and 266.64 points respectively.
