Kathmandu, March 21 -- Nepal defeated Singapore 1-0 in a friendly match on Friday, securing a historic win at the National Stadium, Singapore.

Gillespye Jung Karki's goal in the 12th minute proved decisive for Nepal. This was Nepal's first match under newly appointed head coach Matt Ross. Ross took charge of the Nepali men's senior football team in the first week of this month.

It is Nepal's first-ever victory over Singapore in international football, having lost both previous encounters. Nepal also scored against Singapore for the first time.

Nepal will now face Malaysia on March 25 in the first leg of the third round of the Qualifiers for the 2027 Asian Cup.
