Kathmandu, March 21 -- Nepal defeated Singapore at the latter's home in a friendly played at National Stadium in Kallang on Friday. There was only one goal to separate the teams which was scored by Gillespye Jung Karki in the 12th minute.

The win was a special one for Nepal in many ways, one being the debut game for new head coach Matt Ross. Furthermore, it was the first win for Nepal over Singapore after losing thrice and drawing once. Yet, all the previous four fixtures were played 36 years ago.

Nepal's first encounter with Singapore was back on May 5, 1982, during the King's Cup. Nepal had lost 0-2.

Nevertheless, Nepal could restrict Singapore to a goalless draw while hosting them in the Nepal Panchayat Silver Jubilee Cup in 1986, a...
