Kathmandu, Aug. 29 -- The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said Surkhet recorded heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, with the Khanikhola rain gauge station measuring 292.3 millimetres. Monsoon activity has intensified in several parts of Nepal in recent days.
Senior meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said a low-pressure system has triggered heavy but patchy rainfall in the western region. Panchase in Parbat district received 179.3 millimetres of rain, while Banke recorded 146.3 millimetres.
Other districts witnessing heavy rainfalls included Dang with 138 millimetres, Darchula 107 millimetres, and Sindhupalchok 105 millimetres.
More than a dozen stations reported 80-100 millimetres, while many others recorded 50-80 millimetres....
