Chitwan, Sept. 25 -- The major landslide at Tuinkhola, which had blocked the Narayanghat-Muglin Road since Tuesday evening, was cleared late Thursday at around 9:30pm after nearly 53 hours of work.
Engineer Krishna Acharya, spokesperson of Bharatpur division road office, said that while the main debris has been removed, teams are still cleaning surrounding soil and rocks to ensure safe passage.
Preparations are underway to allow two-way traffic from around 11pm tonight.
The landslide, which struck 2.5 kilometres from Muglin towards Narayanghat, had blocked one of the busiest highways connecting Kathmandu and Pokhara with the East-West Highway. Earlier, a separate landslide had halted movement for 45 hours from last Friday evening.
