Sindhuli, Oct. 31 -- Continuous rainfall has triggered a landslide at Akkare cliff in ward 6 of Golanjor Rural Municipality in Sindhuli, blocking the Khurkot-Ghurmi section of the Mid-Hill Highway.

Hundreds of passengers travelling through the eastern hills have been stranded as persistent rainfall has prevented clearing the landslide despite efforts with machinery, said ward chair Rabin Kumar Shrestha.

Vehicles from Sindhuli, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, and Ramechhap are stopped at Khurkot and Gwaltar.

Continuous rainfall has caused major traffic disruptions in Kavre and Bhaktapur, affecting both the BP and Araniko highways.
