RAUTAHAT, April 17 -- Landless squatters of Lamaha in Chandrapur Municipality-6, Rautahat, are facing a shortage of drinking water.

There are 14 landless families living in Lamaha settlement. The families dig water pits near Lamaha stream's bank to get water for their daily needs. However, those water pits have dried up and the families have been compelled to drink water from Lamaha stream.

Kanchhimaya Tamang, a local, said, "The concerned authorities have done nothing but give us false promises. We are drinking water from the stream now."

Lamaha stream is about 500 metres away from the settlement. Representatives of various political parties have assured the locals of operating a drinking water project, but nothing has been done so far....
