Chitwan, July 24 -- A man died after being allegedly thrashed by Nepal Army personnel deputed in the security of Chitwan National Park. Raj Kumar Chepang, 24, of Rapti Municipality-2 in eastern Chitwan died after being thrashed by army personnel from the park.

Raj Kumar's father Bishnu Lal Chepang has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and has sought action against the guilty.

Seven youths, including two women, were taken under control by army personnel on July 16 for entering the park without permission. They had gone to collect Ghongi, a species of snails considered a delicacy, in Jyudi River inside the park when they were arrested.

They were released the same day.
