Kathmandu, Jan. 11 -- Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSP-N) and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Nepal (LSP-N) on Sunday officially merged following an agreement between JSP-N chair Upendra Yadav and LSP-N chair Mahantha Thakur.
The merged party will retain the name JSP-N and the umbrella as its election symbol. Yadav will serve as party chair, while Thakur will take the role of patron.
Under the merger agreement, a 43-member Central Coordination Committee will manage the party's operations and select an 11-member secretariat from among its members. Until the two parties' central committees are fully integrated, the coordination committee will act as the party's decision-making body.
