Kathmandu, Dec. 13 -- Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava suddenly fell ill while hiking at Champadevi hill on the outskirts of Kathmandu on Saturday.

According to a highly-placed police source, the ambassador suddenly became unwell and lost consciousness during the hike.

He was immediately airlifted in a Nepali Army helicopter and admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu.

"The ambassador suddenly fell ill during the hike, and he has been brought to Kathmandu and admitted to a hospital," a police source told the Post.

It was altitude-related complication and he has now regained consciousness, said an official informed about the rescue initiatives.
