Lamjung, Jan. 28 -- Heavy snowfall has been occurring in the upper regions of Manang district since Wednesday morning. Locals reported that the snow started around 1am. Khangsar, Manang village, Tanki Manang, Ghyaru, and Ngalwal areas have received about one foot of snow.

Resident Sagar Gurung said, "Farmers are happy as it is time for cultivation," and invited tourists to come enjoy the snow.

Umakanta Sapkota, accountant at the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in Manang, said tourists on the trek along the cyclical Annapurna trail are being stopped from reaching their destinations as snowfall continues.
