Kathmandu, Oct. 4 -- Director General of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Kamal Ram Joshi said districts have been divided into two categories-"very high risk" and "risk-prone"-and urged the public to remain cautious.

Joshi said a red alert has been issued for Sunsari, Mahottari, Udaypur, Siraha, Dhanusha, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Saptari, Parsa, Sindhuli, Kavre, Dolakha, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Sindhupalchok and Chitwan, adding that the government must act in these areas.

He said Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Madhesh provinces will face heavy rainfall. Speaking at an emergency meeting called by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Energy Kulman Ghising, Joshi warned that people living along riverbanks must be on high alert....
