Nepal, April 10 -- Hailstorm coupled with strong winds wreaked havoc on the crops of Sarlahi and Rautahat districts of Province 2 on Tuesday morning. The storm also blew away the roofs of some houses in the districts.

Hundreds of farmers have been affected as the hailstorm destroyed ready-to-harvest wheat and legumes.

"The hailstorm coupled with gale destroyed our crops. Our investment and hard work were all blown away," lamented Niraj Sah, a local farmer of Barhathawa Municipality-2 in Sarlahi.

According to the District Police Office in Sarlahi, no human casualty has been reported so far but there was a huge damage to property. The police said that they are assessing the damage caused by the hailstorm and wind.
