Kathmandu, April 2 -- The government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs1 million each to the families of two young men who lost their lives during the pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on March 28.

The Ministry of Home Affairs decided to provide Rs1 million to support the families of journalist Suresh Rajak and 29-year-old Sabin Maharjan, who lost their lives during the violent protest on Friday, the home minister's secretariat said.

Rajak, a video journalist for Avenues Television, died inside a building which was set on fire during the protest at Tinkune. The post-mortem report confirmed that Rajak died due to burns.

Maharjan, a resident of Kirtipur-4, died from police gunfire. Maharjan was a driver.
