Chitwan, March 1 -- Gorkhali Rugby Club has won the title of the first Gorkhali Rugby Sevens. In a competitive final held at the Krishnapur Sports Ground in Bharatpur, Gorkhali Rugby defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by a score of 12-7.

The match ended in a 7-7 draw at the end of regulation time. Gorkhali secured the victory in extra time through a golden score by their captain, Yadu Adhikari.

With the win, the champions received Rs200,000-the largest cash prize in Nepal's rugby history-while the runners-up, Tribhuvan Army Club, took home Rs100,000. Javed Hussain, an Indian player from Gorkhali Rugby, was named the best player of the tournament.
