Panchthar, Oct. 31 -- Four major roads linking Panchthar to neighbouring districts and the Tarai region have been blocked after floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall since Thursday.

The disruption has affected routes connecting Panchthar with Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and other adjoining districts. The Phidim-Phalaut section, which connects the district headquarters Phidim to India's West Bengal through Phalelung Rural Municipality, has been blocked since Thursday night.

According to the Panchthar Infrastructure Development Office, floods in the Pheme river, which separates wards 1 and 11 of Phidim Municipality, eroded a diversion, forcing authorities to halt vehicle movement.
