Kathmandu, Aug. 5 -- The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a flood alert for six major rivers across the country, warning that the risk of flash flooding will remain high until Wednesday.

According to the department, water levels are expected to rise in the East Rapti, Bagmati, Mahakali, Karnali, Bheri, and West Seti rivers. People living near riverbanks and low-lying areas have been urged to remain on high alert and take necessary precautions.

Although the Babai River had crossed its danger mark earlier in the day, conditions have since improved. Flood expert Binod Parajuli informed that the river peaked at 7.1 metres by midday-well above its danger level of 6.8 metres-but began to recede by 3 pm, dropping to 6.62 metr...
