Taplejung, March 12 -- A fire destroyed the house of Hark Tamang in ward 6 of Sidingwa Rural Municipality in Taplejung.

The three-storey house, built with stone, mud, and corrugated sheets, caught fire on Tuesday evening.

According to Police Inspector Vivek Basnet, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Taplejung, the blaze caused damage worth over Rs600,000. The police said the fire started in the kitchen while cooking in firewood.

The six-member family has taken shelter at a neighbour's house following the incident.
