Kathmandu, June 29 -- Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada has urged the private sector to come up with strategies to provide on-the-job training to workers, saying that the government is already making provisions for paying half of the basic wages for a maximum of three months.

The budget for the next fiscal year 2020-21, which aims to create around 700,000 jobs, has provisions that the government would offer half of the basic wages up to three months in grants, provided that any enterprise guarantees employment for a person registered at the 'Labour Information Bank' for two years through on-the-job training. The government has allocated Rs1 billion for the purpose and aims to create around 50,000 jobs.
