Bardiya, Feb. 19 -- A male elephant, estimated to be around 30-35 years old, was found dead on Wednesday at the border of Jharsaluwa and Badka community forests in Thakurbaba Municipality-3, Bardiya. This marks the second elephant death in the district within five days.
According to Bijayraj Subedi, chief of the Division Forest Office, Bardiya, the elephant is believed to have died four to five days ago. Authorities have initiated a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The elephant was found with signs of severe swelling, raising concerns among wildlife officials. Earlier, on Saturday morning, another adult male elephant, approximately 35 years old, was found dead in a lentil field in Khailar, Thakurbaba-4.
