Nawalparasi East, April 22 -- A dry landslide occurred at Daunne in ward 2 of Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi East, along the East-West Highway on Tuesday.

The landslide struck during hillside cutting and wall construction works as part of the Narayanghat-Butwal road expansion works, according to Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal, chief of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi East.

After the landslide, small vehicles and passenger buses were allowed to pass only after offloading passengers. "Passenger vehicles have not been halted yet, but the road could close at any moment," said Dhakal.
