Kathmandu, Dec. 1 -- Nepali Congress' candidate Dhan Raj Gurung has maintained his lead as vote counting is underway in Syangja-2.

As per the latest update, Gurung has received 7,907 votes. Padma Kumari Aryal of the CPN-UML has garnered 5,863 votes.

Tik Raj Gurung of the Rastriya Swatantra Party is third with 2,288 votes.

The vote counting in the constituency started on Wednesday, ten days after the voting was held.

The counting had failed to start after parties including the UML alleged Congress of election frauds by capturing a voting centre at Chapakot Municipality.
