Kathmandu, Nov. 10 -- The government has appointed Additional Inspector General (AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki as the new Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP).

Monday's Cabinet meeting decided to promote Karki to the top post of the security force, according to a minister present at the meeting. Karki will assume office as the 33rd IGP of Nepal Police from November 13.

Karki joined the Nepal Police as an inspector on March 31, 1998, and will serve until March 2026, under the 30-year service provision. He is currently the chief of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, a position he has held since September 9.
