Kathmandu, Jan. 10 -- Nepali Congress has called an emergency meeting of its Central Working Committee on Saturday amid deepening intra-party tension.

"Party's office bearers, central working committee members, the invitee members and presidents of all the seven provinces are invited at the emergency meeting to be held at the party head office at 9 am on Saturday," read the notice issued by Krishna Prasad Paudel, chief secretary at the party office.

The party called the emergency meeting when the faction led by its two general secretaries-Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma-is all set to organise a special general convention on January 11-12 in Kathmandu defying the party establishment's instruction.
