Jhapa, June 10 -- With the onset of the monsoon, dengue cases are rising in Jhapa, prompting concerns of increased health risks.
According to the District Health Office, 39 people have tested positive for dengue since mid-April. Ramesh Barkoti, the chief of the Health Office, said 37 cases were reported in Birtamod while one each in Damak and Gauradaha.
He, however, clarified that these figures are not comprehensive as not all local units have submitted their data.
"We are relying mostly on hospital reports, so we haven't yet identified the most affected areas," he said. "We're working to pinpoint hotspots and implement preventive measures."
Last year, around 4,000 people in the district were infected with the mosquito-bite infectious...
