Kathmandu, Jan. 22 -- The government has extended the tenure of the high-level investigation commission probing the incidents of September 8-9 by an additional 20 days.

Om Prakash Aryal, home minister and spokesperson of the government, said the decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday after the commission requested more time to complete its final report.

The probe committee, chaired by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, with Lily Thapa and Bigyanraj Sharma as members, was formed on September 21 with a three-month mandate.
