Kathmandu, Jan. 14 -- A Buddha Air flight scheduled to depart from Bhairahawa for Kathmandu was delayed on Wednesday after a passenger opened an aircraft emergency exit without authorisation.

Flight 852 was preparing for departure when the incident occurred. Buddha Air information officer Dipendra Karna said passenger Suman Gautam opened the emergency door, disrupting the flight.

Airport security personnel immediately took the passenger under control.

According to the airline, aviation safety protocols require a detailed technical inspection whenever an emergency exit is opened. A technical team has already left Kathmandu for Bhairahawa to carry out the checks.
