Bardiya, March 4 -- A tiger cub was found dead in a decomposed condition at Gulariya Municipality-12, Bikri of the Bhawani Community Forest. A patrolling group of community forest users discovered the cub's body. According to Bijay Raj Subedi, chief of Bardiya division forest office, an investigation is underway to determine whether the cub was killed or died of natural causes.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the cub died after being abandoned by its mother.
Nowadays, roaming tigers are a common sight in the communal and buffer-zone regions of the forest. As per the 2022 census data, there are 125 tigers in Bardiya.
