Kathmandu, Aug. 27 -- When Apoorwa Kshitiz Singh uploaded a video of a standup skit he had performed live on Comedy Circle's YouTube channel, he was hopeful that it would be appreciated. His script was on the Madhesi people and their struggle in facing racial stereotypes in Nepal. The live show had been received well and he was hoping for the same response . He felt he had done a good job raising questions on stereotypical representations and was hoping it would spark a conversation in society.

But the aftermath was something that shocked Singh. The video did quite well on YouTube, amassing a lot of views. It also got a lot of good comments, but it also invited a lot of hate.
