Kathmandu, June 8 -- Around 40 Nepalis deported from the United States are set to arrive in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Anjan Neupane, spokesperson for the airport's immigration office, said a chartered flight carrying the deportees is scheduled to land at approximately 4:15pm.

Since the start of US President Donald Trump's second term, a total of 140 Nepalis have been deported from the US, according to Nepali immigration officials. In the first week of March, the US had similarly deported eight Nepalis via chartered flight. Some of them told the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police during interrogation that they had entered the US by illegally crossing the borders of 12 different countries.
