Kathmandu, Oct. 4 -- The Armed Police Force has intensified patrols in areas around rivers in the Valley in view of possible monsoon-induced disasters.

Assistant Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa said patrols and public awareness announcements were carried out on Friday evening in Chobhar, Balkhu, Balaju, Machhapokhari, Banasthali and other areas. "The force has identified riverbanks and flood-prone zones and deployed teams for patrols and miking," he said. Residents have also been advised to call the toll-free number 1114 in case of emergencies.
