Kathmandu, Feb. 22 -- magnitude earthquake struck near Ritak in Sankhuwasabha at 7:31am on Sunday, the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre in Lainchaur said.
No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
Earlier, a 3.9-magnitude tremor hit near Bansar in Lamjung on January 11.
Nepal, located at the junction of the Tibetan and Indian tectonic plates, experiences frequent earthquakes as the plates converge about two metres every century. A 7.8-magnitude quake in 2015 and its aftershocks killed around 9,000 people.
According to the government's post-disaster needs assessment, Nepal ranks 11th among the world's most earthquake-prone countries.
